Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin attended a ministerial meeting of the 81st International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) General Assembly in Rome on Monday. Sahin conveyed the success Turkey has achieved in its fight against terrorist organizations, organized crime gangs and illicit drug traffickers, and stressed the importance of international cooperation in this fight. Stating that although it is necessary to fight against these organizations together, the required international cooperation could not be provided, Sahin said, "I find it meaningful that our request regarding the extradition of 399 terrorists against whom Interpol has issued a red notice in the last 20 years was accepted for only 33 of them." Sahin added that their studies showed that especially PKK/KCK terrorist organization was active not only in illicit drug trafficking but also in black money laundering, distribution of illicit drugs in Europe and taking commission from drug dealers which are all steps of illicit drug trafficking.
