International Troia Festival in its 50th year

International Troia Festival, an annual cultural event the northwestern province of Canakkale, started on August 12 with a ceremony. At the beginning of the event, Canakkale Mayor Ulgur Gokhan delivered a speech and following his speech, Izzet Melih Dilmac, Huseyin Uluarslan, Eyup Sabri Ozkan and Sefer Goztepe, who contributed to the festival for a half century, were given presents. The first event of the festival was performed by Turkey's internationally acclaimed dance troupe Fire of Anatolia which was viewed by thousands of Canakkale locals. For the five day festival, folk dance teams from countries such as Croatia, Hungary and Moldova will come to the city along with German Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The closing ceremony of the 50th Troia Festival will be held on August 16 at Cumhuriyet Square with the participation of renowed Turkish artists as Sezen Aksu and Fahir Atakoglu.
