Turkey and Iran have had high-level consultations over the past four years, and this policy will continue, said Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki yesterday. Speaking to reporters after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu on the sidelines of the meeting of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) group in Istanbul, he invited Davutoglu to visit Iran next month. Pointing to how over the past four years the trade volume between Turkey and Iran rose from $5 billion to $11 billion, Mottaki added that Tehran's policy of improving relations with Ankara is continuing in the wake of this summer's Iranian presidential elections.
