Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit on Saturday praised Turkey's role as a pillar of stability in the region, in particular lauding its efforts to resolve crises in the region. "We consider Turkey a pillar of stability in the region," Bakhit said at a joint press conference in Istanbul with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. "Relations between Turkey and Jordan have always been very strong, and Prime Minister Erdogan is a friend to the king of Jordan and the Jordanian people," Bakhit said, stressing his country's high opinion of Turkey as a mediator for peace in the region. "We see that the Palestinian issue lies at the bottom of the problems in the region and all other crises are related to that," he added. "We will support our brothers in Palestine, just like we always have." Jordan and Turkey agree that the way to resolve the Palestinian conflict leads through international recognition of the country, he said.
