Karagoz and Newros added to UNESCO's intangible heritage list

Turkey's traditional shadow puppet plays of Karagoz and Hacivat as well as Newroz have been added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The 24 member states of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage, currently meeting in Abu Dhabi, decided to put them on the list.
