Stephen Kinzer, an American journalist and lecturer, said that if the United Nations has been established during the time of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's retirement, he would have been a perfect secretary general for the UN. Speaking at a conference titled "Pioneer of the Millennium Development Goals: Ataturk" organized by the New Jersey Stevens Institute of Technology on April 19 and 20, Kinzer said that some leaders controlled life and realized what they wanted to do in their era, and Ataturk is a good example of them. For his part, Permanent Representative of Turkey to the UN Halit Cevik said during the conference that Ataturk has guided us in difficult times and that we should be happy to see that he has been also a source of inspiration for other brother nations as well.
