Libyan Central Bank governor praises Turkish economy
Libyan Central Bank Governor Sadiq Abd al-Kabeer held bilateral contacts with economy officials in Istanbul the day before yesterday. Stating that the banking sector in Libya has suffered many difficulties for the last 42 years, al-Kabeer said that it would be reshaped. As part of his contacts with his Turkish counterpart Erdem Basci, al-Kabeer said that they have been making efforts to restructure the banking system within the framework of a new economic vision. "Everybody sees the achievements gained by Turkish economy, as well as the steps taken by its Central Bank. The steps which were taken both regionally and internationally are evident. Therefore we have been carefully analyzing these developments. It's a good example for us to follow." Stating that Turkey has greatly supported Libya at the time of war, al-Kabeer said that a great many aid were extended in terms of medicine, food and finance and thus Libya would enjoy better and transparent relations with Turkey. He added that Turkish firms, particularly construction companies, would play a vital role in terms of restructuring Libya.
