The Libyan Embassy in Ankara has denied a news report that the embassy had asked for loans from the Turkish government. Private NTV television yesterday said the embassy had asked the Turkish Foreign Ministry for TL 3 million (approximately $1.9 million). Embassy officials made a statement to the Anatolia news agency later in the day and said the report does not reflect the truth. The Libyan Embassy has been having a hard time funding its expenditures and was unable for some time to pay its personnel their salaries, according to the report.
