Polish MEP Jerzy Buzek, a former prime minister tipped to be elected president of the European Parliament next week, yesterday offered to work to promote Turkey's European Union membership. At a press conference, Buzek said that half of Poles support Turkey's EU membership, adding that he could serve as spokesperson for Turkey's bid. Buzek is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Isparta's Suleyman Demirel University.
