Modern art from Turkey on display at Sofa Chicago fair
The US-based Turkish Cultural Foundation (TCF) will present the works of six contemporary Turkish artists at this month's 19th International Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair -- SOFA Chicago, the foundation announced on Wednesday. The fair, running from Nov. 2-4 at the Chicago Navy Pier Festival Hall, will bring together groundbreaking modern artists, sculptors, designers, curators and collectors from around the world for a series of exhibits, lectures and discussions. This year's TCF display in SOFA, curated together with Armaggan Art and Design Gallery in Istanbul, will feature the work of sculptors Cetin Ates, Adnan Dogan, Zeynep Torun, Ahmet Yazici and Belgin Yucelen, as well as ceramics artist Ipek Kotan, the foundation said in a written statement. SOFA is widely recognized as one of the world's leading fairs of contemporary art and design and is seen each year by tens of thousands of prospective buyers, gallery and museum representatives. This is the sixth consecutive year the TCF, a non-profit organization, is participating in SOFA. "The TCF showcase of Turkish art at SOFA reflects the foundation's mission to expand international opportunities for Turkish artists, as well as to promote the finest examples of Turkish modern art," read the statement.
