Muezzinoglıu: Turkey and Izmir are ready for EXPO 2020

Western province of Izmir, a candidate city for EXPO 2020, hosted 167 delegates who will vote on November 27. Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu, who was present at the meeting, said that Izmir would be a significant platform for opinion exchange among the countries, if it succeeded in the competition for "Health for all" themed EXPO and added that Turkey and Izmir were ready for it. Underlining Turkey's role as a bridge between various countries, World Health Organization Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab said that election of Izmir would help achieve their health goals. Mustafa Toprak, Governor of Izmir and Chairman of EXPO 2020 Izmir Steering Board and Executive Committee, who also attended the meeting, said his aim was to organize the most environmentalist EXPO to date, adding, "We aim to invest $50 billion in organizing an EXPO that will host 120 countries and 35 million visitors".
