European Parliament member Cem Ozdemir yesterday was elected co-chairman of Germany's Greens Party, in a historic first for Turkish-origin citizens in Europe. Afterwards, Ozdemir told a press conference, "Some day we'll see a woman or man of Turkish origin as a (German) state minister, prime minister or president," and he called on the Greens to deal with the problems of immigrants. Ozdemir added that he would focus on representing people who are excluded from society.
