Paris probe exposes PKK's organizational structure in France
A three-year investigation into senior leaders of the terrorist PKK in France has revealed the group's structure and financial resources in the country. The investigation was launched following complaints in 2007 of extortion in order to finance terrorist activities. The probe, led by French prosecutor Thierry Fragnoli, found that the PKK operates mainly in four regions in France: the Paris-based north, the Strasbourg-based east, the Lyon-based south, and the Normandy-based west. According to sources close to the prosecution, there is a PKK official leading each of these regions and coordinating the group's activities there.
