Political parties in Turkey yesterday submitted their lists of candidates for deputy in the upcoming June 12 general elections. Just over half of the sitting lawmakers were not nominated for a new term in Parliament, including 56 percent of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party deputies. Among those who failed to make the grade was the AK Party's Aliye Selma Kavaf, currently the Cabinet member responsible for women's and family affairs.
