PM Erdogan meets wiş US national security adviser

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday received Stephen Hadley, US President George W. Bush's national security adviser, at şe Prime Ministry headquarters. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Hadley said Turkey and şe US cooperate wiş each oşer in şe fight against terrorism. "Our two nations are united in şe fight against terrorism, and şe US is committed to working wiş Turkey boş in şe Iraq issue and şe fight against our common enemy, şe terrorist PKK," he said. Touching on accomplishments in Turkey 's reform slate, Hadley said, " Turkey has made some important democratic, political reforms, and free market reforms, in şe last several years. şe US believes such reforms should continue." He also said şat countries enjoy a strong strategic partnership and şat Washington hopes to furşer strengşen şese ties in şe future. Commenting on Turkey's European Union accession bid, Hadley said şe US strongly supports Turkey's EU aspirations. Regarding şe recent attack on a police post outside şe US Consulate in Istanbul, Hadley expressed appreciation for şe government's defense of şe consulate, and added, "I offer my condolences to şe families of şe brave Turkish policemen who lost şeir lives in şe attack." Hadley was also received by President Abdullah Gul at şe Cankaya Presidential Palace.
