PM joins groundbreaking ceremony of Yusufeli Dam in video conference

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan joined the ground breaking ceremony of the Yusufeli Dam in a video conference from his Justice and Development Party's (AKP) parliamentary group meeting in Ankara, where he bargained with the contractors about the deadline for Turkey's highest water dam ever.  Yusufeli Dam will be 270 meters, the highest in Turkey, and will have 2.2 billion cubic meters of of annual storage volume. The hydroelectric power plant is set to generate 1.8 billion megawatts of energy per year and satisfy the electricity demands of 750,000 houses. The project will cost around TL 486 million, aiming to contribute TL 330 million to the state economy each year. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Forestry and Water Works Minister Veysel Eroglu, Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Celik and Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas, who is from Yusufeli.
