After Turkey has announced its decision to accept international aid, the prefabricated houses and such aid materials as blankets and beds which were carried by a cargo aircraft owned by the Israeli Airlines arrived in Ankara yesterday to be delivered to Van on trailer trucks. Israel is expected to send three more aircrafts full of aid materials to Turkey in two days. Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Selcuk Unal thanked Israel along with other countries which have sent aid materials to Turkey. In reply to a question how the relations between the two countries would be affected by the relief efforts exerted by Israel, Unal said that Turkey never confounded humanitarian issues with politics, but that our basic expectations with regard to our bilateral relations remain the same.
