President Gul meets with his Tanzanian counterpart Kikwete

Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete yesterday met with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul at the Cankaya Presidential Palace in Ankara . During their meeting, agreements were signed on visas, commercial cooperation, and aviation. Under the pacts, visa requirements between the two countries have been relaxed, and Turkish Airlines (THY) will start direct flights to the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam . Afterwards, Kikwete told a joint press conference, " Turkey is our friend and the voice of Africa , especially among the G-20 countries … We have no (direct) voice among the G-20 countries, as no country from the African continent is a member of the G-20." Kikwete also called on Turkish investors to invest in Tanzania , touting his country's potential in agriculture, tourism, education, science and technology. Gul also hosted a dinner in Kikwete's honor.
