President Abdullah Gul has expressed his support for the ongoing peace negotiations intended to disarm the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), but has also called on the parties involved to "talk less and do more" to ensure the success of these efforts. "Of course, everyone should express their opinions but there are some who should not speak. There are some who should work," Gul said on Thursday in his first comments on the ongoing talks between Turkish officials and the jailed leader of the PKK. Gul said that "those who play a role in this process know what they have to do." "If they act honestly and do what it falls upon them to do, these sufferings will end," he said. "First of all, those who possess arms and those who give orders to these people should do what is necessary," he added. Gul said being able to drop terrorism from the country's agenda is Turkey's priority, adding that there are many methods to end terror and these methods can be used at any time. "You have to respond to those who use weapons against you with weapons. Everyone should know that the state will never come to heel," the President said.
