Representatives from Turkey's natural stone sector participated in the India Stonemart 2013, namely, the International Stone Industry Exhibition, which was organized in Jaipur, India on January 31 and February 3. The exhibition was jointly opened by Turkish Ambassador to India Burak Akcapar and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. As part of the exhibition, representatives from Turkish firms exhibited their products on an area of 2,300 square meters and established important business contacts. Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB) Chairman Mehmet Ozer said that the fair has been very beneficial for the Turkish firms. "We have signed a great many cooperation agreements and received orders. Our natural stone export to India increased by 33 percent last year. This situation mainly derives from our struggle against the quota imposed by India. In case the quotas are fully removed, India could be our most important export market," Ozer added.
