Schulz: "Turkey deserves respect"

"Turkey deserves respect particularly for providing humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees. Turkey plays a key role in order to resolve the issue by avoiding military intervention in Syria," said President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz during a visit to Mescid-i Aksa Mosque in the Hassel district of Germany. Stating that no country has adopted such an attitude as Turkey in terms of humanitarian aid, Schulz thanked Turkey for its exemplary behavior. "It should not be forgotten that Turkey is a major power in the region and capable of intervening in the civil war in Syria by military means," Schulz said, adding that he hoped this would not happen. Schulz also stated that Turkey played a key role in negotiations with related parties and particularly Russia in order to avoid any military intervention in the region.
