The second UK-Turkey Business Forum will be jointly held by the UK-Turkey Business Council and Turkish-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry tomorrow in Istanbul. Speaking at the introductory meeting yesterday, Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) Chairman Suzan Sabanci Dincer said that they aimed to increase the trade volume between Turkey and UK currently totaling 12 billion US dollars through the Business Forum. Dincer added that the UK-Turkey Silver Tongue Forum would be held in the UK on October 7-9 as part of their efforts aimed at deepening economic activities between the two countries. Speaking on his part, DEIK UK-Turkey Business Forum Deputy Chairman Remzi Gur said that the Business Forum would strengthen economic relations through political cooperation between the two countries. Gur stated that as the economic situation in Europe worsened and the Arab Spring has turned into a world spring, Europe has realized that commerce without Turkey was impossible. Gur added that Turkey was more courageous than Europe, which is abstaining due to incidents in northern Africa and Iran, and that successful performance shown by Turkey following the economic crisis of 2008 has been often mentioned.
