Stolen treasure found in Germany
Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay yesterday stated that a golden-winged seashore brooch which has been stolen from the Aegean city of Usak Archeology Museum was found in Germany. "The golden jewelry amounting to millions of lira which is one of the most important piece of King Croesus' treasures and known as the gold-winged seashore belonging to the Usak region which has been stolen from the Archeology Museum in Usak in 2005 was found in Germany. Turkish and German authorities have agreed that the item belongs to Turkey," Gunay said, adding that the item is likely to be returned to Turkey as soon as possible. Gunay reiterated that the museum director who has caused the burglary has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
