In Germany, the Supreme Court of Hamburg sentenced Ali Ihsan Kitay, a Turkish national, two-and-a-half years in jail for being a member of the PKK and aiding and abetting the group. This is the first conviction for being a PKK member in Germany. The prosecutor had sought three-and-a-half years in jail for Kitay between 2007 and 2008 for his activities in Hamburg, Kiel, Bremen and Oldenburg. Furthermore, six people in Spain and two persons in Greece were detained as part of operations against the PKK.
