Syrian Information Minister: "We might have confused Turkish jet for an Israeli one"

Speaking to a private Turkish broadcaster A Haber yesterday, Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said that there was a Zionist country in the area, namely, Israel, and Turkish planes and Israeli planes look like each other. "If an Israeli plane enters Syria, it is welcomed by fire. The Turkish plane might have been believed to be an Israeli plane; we did not want to take down a Turkish plane," al-Zoubi said. When asked if Turkish pilots are being held captive, al-Zoubi said, "We have no idea of the location of the two missing pilots. We hope they are still alive." Al-Zoubi added that he hoped that Turkish-Syria relations reach a better point and that Syria never wanted to bring down a Turkish plane.
