Technology changes societies, says resident Gul

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 11th Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Forum in Istanbul on Thursday, President Abdullah Gul said, "Developments in information and communications technologies have changed societies. People demand not only what they are offered, but the best of everything in the world. Consequently, transparency, freedom, justice, accountability and good governance are the values relevant not only in privileged parts of the world, but also in the entire world," adding, "As it is impossible to rein in this development, we will witness innovations that we cannot imagine." Gul also emphasized how technology will make the world more transparent.
