Amid fierce competition between Gulf and Turkish companies over reconstruction projects in northern Iraq, Turkey's influence is increasingly felt there, reported The Gulf, an economy newspaper, this week. Turkey has great cultural, educational and commercial reach in Iraq, fuelled in significant part by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reported the paper. Sixty of some 1,200 companies working in Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Dahuk are Turkish, it added.
