Traffic accident claims Turkish commander in Afghanistan

Col. Faruk Sungur, head of the Turkish task force with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) command in Afghanistan, and Sgt. Mevlut Baydur were killed in a traffic accident on Tuesday. Col. Murat Kaymakcilar and Sgt. Fehmi Berkyürek were also wounded in the accident. Foreign Minister spokesperson Burak Ozuergin yesterday said that Turkey sent an air ambulance plane to Afghanistan to bring home Turkish military personnel.
