Treaty of Utrecht, a peace treaty marking the end of the War of the Spanish Succession which was signed by Spain, Great Britain, Duke of Savoy and the Netherlands in 1713, celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2013. Semiramis Oner Muhuroglu, a Turkish artist based in Holland, created a painting depicting the celebration of the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht. Treaty of Utrecht Foundation, Utrecht City Museum and Utrecht City Castle Restoration Foundation has made an offer to Muhurluoglu regarding the matter.  Accordingly, Muhurdaroglu showed the council representing these three institutions her painting showing portraits of various diplomats, based on a research in the archives of Centraal Museum. She has also established a link with the present, and with our own celebrations of the Treaty of Utrecht in 2013. The painting will be unveiled on April 11, 2013 in a celebration ceremony in which Muhurluoglu will also meet Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
