Turkey-African media forum ends
The Turkey-African Media Forum which was organized by the Directorate General of Press and Information (DGPI) with support of the African Media Initiative (AMI) and participation of approximately 300 journalists from 55 African countries ended yesterday. The relations between Turkey and African countries along with such dimensions as media, economy, commerce and culture were discussed in detail during the three-day event. The Final Declaration which was issued at the end of the forum says that certain platforms will be established to bring together media professionals and establish a more comprehensive cooperation in media sphere in parallel to political and economic relations between Turkey and African countries. Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc held a press conference at the end of the forum, during which he made assessments about Turkey’s economic and social structure, foreign policies, relations with Africa and cooperation to be made in media. Arinc also replied to journalists’ questions. Following the forum, visiting journalists from Africa proceeded to Istanbul to attend a program covering historical and touristy places of the city.
