Turkey-America Civil Avation Conference begins in İzmir

Turkey-America Civil Aviation Conference began in Izmir on Wednesday. Speaking at the conference, Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yildirim said that the tender to build the third airport in Istanbul was set to be made on May 3. Stating that the investment to be made in the build-transfer-operate model is set to amount to €9 billion, Yildirim said that they have decided to implement the project in cooperation with the public and private sector. "The investments of the first stage will last for five years. We will be expanding to 150 million passengers in 25 years. When the construction is entirely completed, including six runways and taxi ways, we will have terminal facilities on an indoor area of 1.5 million square meters.  It will be located on an area of a total of 90 million square meters," Yildirim said.
