Turkey recognize new state of south Sudan

Turkey over the weekend recognized the newly established Republic of South Sudan as an independent state, expressing its willingness to forge cooperation with the new country. South Sudan declared its independence on Saturday and Turkey, along with others in the international community, recognized the republic on the date of its declaration of independence, the Foreign Ministry announced. Turkey will work to establish cooperative ties of friendship and brotherhood with South Sudan and its people, it said. "A delegation headed by Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz visited (the new nation's capital) Juba today," the statement said, adding that he conveyed a letter from President Abdullah Gul regarding Turkey's recognition of the Republic of South Sudan to its new president, Salva Kiir Mayardit.
