Turkey yesterday turned over its one-month UN Security Council term presidency to Uganda. The Foreign Ministry stated that under Turkey's leadership the Security Council unanimously accepted three decisions aimed at strengthening sanctions against Northern Korea, extending the UN Disengagement Observer Force's (UNDOF) term of office, and providing the UN Office in Ginea Bissau (UNOGBIS) with a new structure starting next year. Turkey is set to again hold the term presidency in late 2010, before its temporary seat on the council concludes.
