Meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad yesterday in Damascus, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu voiced Turkey's backing for a Syrian government reform package. Assad's government has been shaken by three weeks of political unrest. "Davutoglu expressed his country's support for the reform package adopted by the Syrian authorities," said the official SANA news agency, citing a statement by the Syrian presidency. He also reportedly "affirmed that Turkey is ready to help in any possible way to accelerate the reforms in order to ensure the prosperity of the Syrian people and reinforce their security and stability."
