Turkey's chief of staff in Washington
Chief of General Staff Necdet Ozel met with Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, yesterday as a part of his four-day-visit to Washington. Getting several briefings at the most strategic bases of the US Army, Ozel is scheduled to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery as well as a number of bases in Virginia and Florida. Pentagon Spokesman Scott McIlnay said Ozel’s visit is significant in that it proves the two army’s long term bilateral relations. The talks in Washington are expected to cover mutual strategic interests, including Syria crisis and Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Ozel's visit will also include a briefing on the progress of America's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.
