Turkey's Gokturk-2 satellite to be launched today

The Gokturk-2 satellite, Turkey's first domestic high resolution observation satellite, will be launched from the Jiuquan base in China today. The launch of the satellite, which was created by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and Turkish Aerospace Industries, will be watched live at a ceremony to be held at the Space Technologies Research Institute of TUBITAK in Ankara with the participation of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The first signal following the launch is expected to be received at 21:25 (local time) in Ankara. The satellite will be deployed 686 kilometers above the Earth.
