Turkey's industrial production up by nearly 9 percent in 2011

Turkey's industrial production increased by 8.9 percent in 2011, compared to the previous year, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) announced yesterday. The official statistics body noted the increase in Turkey's industrial production was some 3.7 percent in December of last year. Turkey's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 9.6 percent in the first three quarters of last year, following an expansion of 9 percent across all four quarters of 2010. The figures for industrial production, along with a number of other indicators, suggested overall growth of no less than 8 percent last year.
