Turkey's Presidential Symphony plays last concert in China
The Ankara-based Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) played a concert on Tuesday evening at the Shenzhen Concert Hall in the Chinese city of Shenzhen as part of the Year of Turkish Culture in China. The CSO's first concert in China was on September 10 at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts, colloquially known as "The Giant Egg." Turkish piano virtuoso Gokhan Aybulus accompanied the orchestra, which played under the baton of Rengim Gokmen. The orchestra performed two more concerts in the country ahead of Tuesday's event, according to a press release issued by the publicist of the orchestra on Monday.
The Year of Turkish Culture in China kicked off in Beijing in March, presenting a series of cultural events to promote contemporary and traditional aspects of Turkish culture in an assorted 12-month program. The celebrations in China have come on the heels of the Year of Chinese Culture in Turkey which wrapped up in February 2012. Both countries are holding cultural programs on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the commencement of diplomatic ties between China and Turkey.
