Turkish constructors ink projects worth 2,3 billion dolar a month

Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan has said yesterday in a written statement that Turkish construction companies undertook 40 projects having the value of $2.3 billion in 27 different countries in July. According to Caglayan, two power plants in Turkmenistan worth of $545 million, a real estate development project in Kazakhstan for $370 million, two hydro power plants in Albania for $256 million, and three highway projects both in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan for $217 million in total are among the most important projects that construction business sector has assumed. "The value of 40 projects undertaken in July is more than the projects totally undertaken in 2001," said Caglayan. He stated that Turkish construction companies have undertaken 154 projects in 27 different countries between January-July 2013, adding that the value of these projects was around $14 billion. Construction firms undertook the largest number of projects – with a total number of 33 projects for $5.6 billion- in Turkmenistan during the first seven months of the year. Turkmenistan was followed by Russia with 19 projects for $1.4 billion, Azerbaijan with five projects for $1.4 billion, Kazakhstan with nine projects for $1.3 billion and Iraq with 31 projects for $1 billion.
