Turkish teen makes big splash with two medals at junior euro swimming championship
Turkish teen Ediz Yildirimer on Saturday broke national records and won two medals in the European Junior Swimming Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, competing against swimmers from 41 countries in the four-day event. The 17-year-old won the 800-meter freestyle on Saturday with a time of 8:00.82, a record-breaking time not only in Turkey's junior swimming but in fact overall. Yildirimer also won the bronze medal in the 1,500-meter freestyle to finish the tournament with two medals. Yildirimer was last year's champion in Finland in the 800-meter freestyle.
