Turkish weightlifter Taylan clinches fifth European chanpion title

Turkey's Nurcan Taylan, competing in the women's 48 kg category in the European Weightlifting Championship in Minsk, Belarus, became the European champion on Monday. Taylan won three gold medals in the championship by lifting 90 kg in snatch, 118 kg in clean and jerk, and 208 kg in total in the championship. Taylan broke the European record in clean and jerk by lifting 118 kg as well. Both President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent telegrams congratulating Taylan on her claiming the title. Taylan, also a world champion, won her fifth European champion title with these results.
