University of Havana to open Turkology institute

A Turkology institute will soon be opened at the University of Havana as a sign of positive relations with Turkey, said Cuba's outgoing Ambassador to Turkey Ernesto Gómez Abascal yesterday. Speaking to reporters, Abascal praised ties between Cuba and Turkey, adding that he plans to write a book on Turkey's cultural and historical richness as well as Turks' friendly approach towards Cuba. "We don't have a very big economy, but we try to keep our relations (with Turkey) lively thanks to activities in sports, culture and the arts as well as cooperation between our universities," he added.
