Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, who was involved in a polemic more than three years ago as part of a discussion of Israel and Palestine issue during the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, took a step back in Istanbul. In reply to a reporter's question about his opinions on this week's WEF meeting in which Israeli President Shimon Perez was replaced by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Peres, Ignatius said that he didn't want to talk about past incidents, but that he liked the opening speech made by Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan in Istanbul. Ignatius added that he has attended all of the sessions as part of the WEF and that he was welcomed very well in Istanbul.
