Yildiz: "Turkey hopes to build two nuclear plants"
The government hopes to build two nuclear power plants by 2023, the Turkish Republic's centenary, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz yesterday. Speaking in the central Anatolian province of Kayseri, Yildiz said, "We're planning to construct two nuclear power plants in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. These plants will propel Turkish industry to the big leagues." He said Turkish and Russian officials recently held talks on manufacturing various nuclear plant components in Turkey, and that making these components would boost Turkish industry. Yildiz added that he and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon travel to South Korea to finalize a deal on a second nuclear power plant.
